This is a very odd subject and you won’t find much information about it around the web, for I myself accidentally discovered it while cutting some calories just prior to the winter season. Indeed, I like to eat more during the winter as it makes me stronger against the flu and other viruses and bacteria so that I can get lean and be better prepared for that “bulking” season.
But what does this have to do with activating our killer instinct? Well, it has everything to do with it, so let me explain what the deal is.
First, a little history
For about 2 million years, the first human descendants were tribal herbivore. But following that era, during the next 2 million years, humans evolved into tribal hunters, warriors and eventually a killer species. We were then on our way to become the apex predators that we still are to this day.
Our instincts and drives have developed long before our intellect, due to being mainly instinctive in nature just like the majority of species in the animal world.
Social-cooperation, mother-love, curiosity, friendship, compassion, desire for hunting, fighting and killing are all very ancient human instincts that are both designed by evolution and have proven to be necessary for survival of the specie. They cannot be modified, but they may be controlled to some extent.
More recently, 2 to 3 million years ago, a bunch of dudes figured out how to sharpen a stick. That new weapon, the spear, was way more efficient than simple rocks or pieces of wood, and that discovery propelled the human evolution in a specific direction. These new weapons equalized the battlefield, so growing bigger or stronger was not a requisite for survival anymore, but growing smarter and cruel became the new way of ensuring that survival.
Men slowly transformed themselves from docile and discrete herbs to tribal hunters, warriors and killers. This new need for intelligence mixed with the increase in fat and protein consumption from fresh kill drove evolution to grow and enhance the human brain. Just like lions and other bigger cats, when men were not resting, they were hunting or fighting a war with neighbouring tribes.
The instinct is the driving program that controls the behavior of a creature, and it is part of its genetic code. Every single cell in your body has this human instinct coded in it. Deep down underneath your intellectual layer, at the heart of who you really are, you will find your instinct.
Human intellect and intelligence is like another software layer on top of the instinct which is at the core. Indeed, any upgrade to the DNA must be applied on code that already exists.
This new layer, “the intellect”, allows a much wider choice of behaviour that allows adapting way faster to different environments and situations. This layer allows to self-discipline the instinct in order to be more flexible and adaptive, which further increases your chance of survival.
Surviving, food timing and your killer instinct
The main goal of your instinct is to drive you to survive and propagate your gene. Most instinctive behaviours are turned on and off as needed depending on circumstance.
One of the main actions you need to do in order to survive is to eat, and to eat you need to kill. Kill the enemy to get their food or conquer their hunting territory, and of course, to kill animals for their precious flesh.
Thus, you become a killer, hunter, warrior. Evidently, instinct is directly related to food.
Like every other predator, the activation and deactivation of this instinct is directly related to when you have eaten your last meal. Indeed, a predator that has just finished a big meal is not that dangerous.
His brain is flooded by serotonin, and he is also in an anabolic hormonal setting that promotes rest. He feels contented and relaxed. His motivation, drive and energy are at its lowest point in the cycle. He enjoys his reward after a long period of hunting and killing.
Want to make an experiment?
You have a lazy and fat cat at home that sleeps all day long?
Try this: read the prescribed feeding quantity of food on the cat food box. Reduce this quantity by 15%. Give all the food at one time, in the morning, basically at the end of his hunting cycle.
The result? After a couple of day, your lazy cat will be out hunting all night!
Why? Because when his digestive track is empty, his killer instinct will be activated!
Here is the predator killer instinct cycle:
| Hunting and Killing phase
Following a rest session and a good period of sleep.
Empty belly, he starts feeling hungry.
The killer instinct gets activated.
Surge in drive, focus, motivation and energy level.
Become smarter, more creative, cunning and aggressive.
Increase in insulin sensitivity and detoxification the digestive track.
He is empty, thus lighter; more blood is available for the brain and muscles.
Goes right after his target.
|Feeding and Resting phase
Following a long period without a real consistent meal.
Eat large amount of food
Feel contented, happy, relaxed, lazy, sleepy.
Killer instinct gets deactivated.
No more drive, motivation. Energy levels decrease.
The body is highly sensitive to food and the assimilation of nutrient is optimised at is best.
He is full and heavy, large quantity of blood and energy are used for digestion.
Go right to bed after a relaxing session.
Humans are clearly predators, by eating 3 to 6 time a day, always having foods at hand, you effectively deactivate your killer instinct and keep yourself stuck in this “contented and relaxed” mode all day long.
This is why you’re so fucking lazy, low energy and low motivation all the time!
Chuck’s recipe to activate your killer instinct.
I don’t do a real fast; yes, a strict fast would also activate your killer instincts but you might end up just thinking a little bit too much about food all day long. You want to be able to redirect this instinct towards your goal.
Basically, you want to replace hunting by business, and then get the reward. You use your intellect to discipline your instinct in order to use it the way you need it. No need to kill the neighbour’s dog, right?
I prepare a 3 serving whey protein shake. Only the protein and water. It does contain 75 gram of protein and around 450 calories, which is more than enough to preserve my body strength. I just drink it through the day spited in 4 intakes.
The schedule looks like this:
|18H00||Big ass dinner|
I use a protein shake, because I want to minimise the insulin release and because I noticed that carbs, including fruits, create cravings. Those cravings caused by carbs are following the release of insulin, that could make your day very difficult.
Because a protein shake is already liquid, micro filtered, etc., your digestive system is not much activated. This represents only about 2 or 3 sips each time while providing a good 18 gram of complete protein.
Eating small quantity of beef jerky or nuts might also work.
It also helps to drink a coffee, no milk, no sugar, or green tea during the day. You should notice that, in that state, caffeine is even more efficient.
Basically, the idea is to stay 95% empty all day long, until you’re finished with your business. Of course you will feel hungry, but it is very controllable, because you will get used to it after only a few days.
As long as you keep yourself busy, the focus, drive, motivation and energy provided by your killer instinct will just overcome the little discomfort. In fact, this little discomfort can become quite addictive on the long run.
Seriously, I feel like I’m on Modafinil when the killer instinct kicks in! God save the person who wants to get in my way, especially near the end of the day, when I look forward to my reward.
I’m just fucking killing it all day long!
Once you’re done with your work day, you killed it solid, and then you’re back home for dinner with your family, it’s then time to pig-out!
While doing this, I usually eat a crazy big dinner, followed by another snack one hour later. I eat so much in this 2hour span that I get probably almost as many calories as if I had eaten 3 to 5 meals during the day.
But, the taste, the satisfaction! It is immeasurable!
I feel like I’m stoned on codeine in the evening after dinner. My serotonin levels must be through the roof! I’m feeling so contented, happy and comfortable. The reward for a kill day is so awesome.
Also, it really helps to have a great night of sleep. It really splits the day in 2 phases, kill time and rest time.
Something interesting I found out on the subject is, because your insulin becomes highly sensitive, the efficiency of your nutrient assimilation increases dramatically. Meaning that your body can do more with less. For more technical information on this kind of diet pattern, look for The Warrior Diet: Switch on Your Biological Powerhouse For High Energy, Explosive Strength, and a Leaner, Harder Body by Ori Hofmekler, for it is the only book I have found on the subject. The food recommendation is different than in my method, but he also references the killer instinct activation. The main focus of the book is mainly diet for fat loss and the promotion of overall health, certainly one of the best diet book on the market…
Why would you activate your killer instinct?
Basically, each time you’re under the gun, or your about to enter a crucial phase in a project, you need to give your best for more than one day; this is the way to go! With that you don’t need performance enhancing drugs, for a simple coffee will do the job just fine!
This may also include situations when your wife or girlfriend’s temper tantrums are getting too frequent or get out of control. I’m definitively more Alpha while I’m on!
A couple of month ago I received a court application from my charming sociopathic ex-wife, with false accusations, lies and manipulations in order to steal the custody of my son. My first move was to activate my killer instinct, and I maintained it during all the battle. It really helps me to manage my stress and definitively allowed me to give the best I possibly could!
I can guarantee that next time, 25k$ later, she think twice before attacking me.
This might not be something that you would want to do all year long, but when it’s time to be at your best, for your business, sport competition or because you’re at war, the activation of your killer instinct will surely give you an edge!
