In the last 3 years, I have experimented with many cognitive enhancers also known has smart drugs or nootropics. Piracetam, Aniracetam, Phenylpiracetam, Oxiracetam, Noopept, Modafinil, Sulbutiamine, Choline bitartrate, Alpha GPC, CDP Choline… standalone or in different combinations.
Those were fun and relatively safe experiments that lead me to the conclusion that differs from the information that is advertised on the many Nootropic affiliate sites.
Clearly, their goal is to sell you as much has they can…
Boosting your brain’s computing power, memory access and creativity will give you a competitive edge again your competition and that will end up being a great investment if it doesn’t compromise your health.
It’s a must for a test or an interview!
Also, it can give you the opportunity to give a little break to your adrenal gland by reducing your caffeine intake since you will now have an alternative.
Basically, those compounds increase the brain’s supply in neurotransmitter and/or stimulate the receptors.
You can expect better memory, faster and better reasoning, better focus, more creativity, better overall clarity of mind.
It seems a good investment, right?
Well…. here is my review…
First, will any of them or combinations of them will give results somehow similar from what Eddie is experiencing while taking the NZT-48 in the movie Limitless?
Do some of them are worth buying? Yes, one, in particular, the others are mostly overrated or potentially dangerous.
Before revealing my favorite, the first things to know is there are 3 main categories.
- The Neurotransmitter booster.
- The Receptor enhancer.
- The Stimulant.
The Neurotransmitter booster.
Neurotransmitters are the chemical messenger that transmits the signal across the synapse from a neuron to another neuron. Basically, it is the smallest unit of information that allows your brain to compute. It’s a little like the small electric current that makes the 1 and the 0 in a computer.
The main neurotransmitter for cognitive function is the acetylcholine. The idea is to boost your brain level of acetylcholine, thus increasing its availability and then allow a better computing speed and memory access.
My favorite: NOW Alpha GPC 300 mg
The Receptor enhancer.
Those are the one people call “real nootropic”. Basically, they enhance the way the acetylcholine receptor works by different methods of action depending on the compound. Because of that, you can better use the neurotransmitters since the receptor is more efficient.
Which brings us to a first problem if you do not use a neurotransmitter booster with it; you will quickly deplete your level of neurotransmitter and end up with the opposite effect, headache, foggy mind or feeling tired.
This adds up to the cost, plus those compounds usually not cheap.
From my experience, you double the cost of only supplementing in neurotransmitter booster and the difference in the result is quite subtle.
It’s like, you increase the cost by 100% to increase performance by 15%.
Furthermore, it seems that the effect dissipates after a couple of months of usage which is not the case while using only simple neurotransmitter booster.
They appear to be safe, but there is not much long-term research on them and keep in mind that those are not naturally occurring, those are engineered molecule.
Most commonly used: Piracetam, Aniracetam, Phenylpiracetam, Oxiracetam, Noopept
My favorite: Oxiracetam. This one is a little special; it gives a mental energizing effect.
Those are drug developed to treat attention deficit disorders, narcolepsy, or to simply keep soldiers awake. Those are so effective that they can easily produce an effect comparable to cocaine for a longer active life and a much cheaper cost. Combined them with neurotransmitter booster they can give really impressive results.
But keep in mind that being on stim is like burning the candle by both sides.
No matter which one you use!
Don’t be a fool thinking that this is a healthy and sustainable solution. Shure, they could be used occasionally for specific events, but I would not recommend taking them steady, not even once or twice a week.
Most people are already addicted to Caffeine, using those on a regular basis will only end up in some sort of adrenal fatigue syndrome quicker that you think.
Plus getting them without prescription is illegal in most countries.
Those are to use has a secret weapon for special events.
Most commonly used: Adrenal, Focalin, Ritalin, Modafinil
My favorite: Modafinil [Here is my #1 black market supplier, deliver around the world discreetly, also deliver Modafinil discreetly in Canada]
Ok if you want to try this, don’t swallow a 200mg pill right up! This is this stuff is fucking powerful. This is legit pharma quality, for most people 100mg is plenty, just cut the pill in half and if you’re sensitive to stims or meds in general, try 50mg-75mg at first.
Modalert (Modafinil) 200mg (best deal)
Modalert (Modafinil) 100mg
Also, keep in mind, I’m not your doctor! This post is provided for information, entertainment only, it does not constitute endorsements of any medical advice.
By the way, all sorts of crazy powerful shit are available with that supplier, don’t try any random product, for fun, without doing extensive research on it. Most of those things can really fuck you up!
What is the best “cost/effect/health” sustainable solution?
From my experience, the best overall option is Alpha-GPC. Stand alone or in combo with Caffeine. Alpha GPC is a glycerophosphate form of choline, which is in a form that is naturally found in the brain, which makes it the most bioavailable and effective form of acetylcholine precursor.
- You can stack it with any nootropic, it’s only going to improve their performance.
- Great for Strength training as it increases focus and the mind-body connection.
- Great with weed (marijuana) as it makes you smarter and think more clearly while your stone. You can now use weed for creativity and out of the box thinking without affecting your memory or simply becoming moronic.
- Great for Grandpa and Granma as it protects against Alzheimer and helps them to think more clearly.
- Great at work with or without caffeine.
- Taken before bed, great for crazy lucid dreaming.
- Increase growth hormone production, kind of a cool side effect.
- Can be difficult to procure. Not much good brand available.
- Price higher that regular Choline bitartrate which would be your best option if you were on a tight budget.
If you need a stronger hit, for a special event like a math test, double the dose and add Caffeine. The result will be similar to the aforementioned stimulant, but cheaper and easier to procure.
If you want to stay 100% natural, note that eggs have a good content of Choline. That why eating eggs for breakfast is a good way to fuel your brain for the day.
